Our Board
The Grant Foundation Board is responsible for governance of HAS as well as fund raising. The Board is composed of individuals with a wide variety of skills and professional expertise including physicians with clinical experience practicing at HAS and other resource limited settings, international public health, economic development, finance, law, engineering and administration. While many Board members travel to Haiti frequently to stay current with HAS initiatives, the Board meets at least once per year in Haiti.

Our Staff
The founders, Gwen and Larry Mellon, established a practice of providing training and advancement to Haitians as a key to the hospital’s success. Today, more than 95% of the personnel are Haitian, filling professional, technical and supervisory positions. International health professionals, who form a worldwide Alumni Association, contribute their expertise on a voluntary or limited compensation basis. Working with Haitian colleagues, they provide a highly qualified and culturally sensitive teaching environment that ensures an excellent standard of care. Over half of the employees of HAS work in outlying regions in the Integrated Community Services Division.
