The Burlington branch of the HAS Alumni Association is very pleased that the first Hike for Haiti, in Charlotte, VT, exceeded its goal of raising $10,000 for the HAS Nurses' Salary Support Project. This event raised a total of $13,194!

A group of Vermont alumni and supporters of HAS came together to organize the event on October 3, 2009, to spread the word about the hospital and its services, and to raise funds for its clinical efforts, especially the essential services which are provided by nurses.

Despite gray skies, the enthusiastic participants enjoyed some beautiful views atop scenic Mt. Philo, along with Haitian drumming, hot chocolate, cider and donuts. Some HAS alumni also provided a post-hike meal of rice and beans to the participants.

We thank our hikers and their sponsors, as well as all who supported this successful event in support of our nurses at HAS.
