Hosted at the Sheraton Station Square Hotel in Pittsburgh , the evening celebrated National Philanthropy Day by recognizing those who “Change the World With a Giving Heart.” Nominated by Natalie D. Hoffman and Karen Sartin Slevin of Linden Partners, Ian and Lucy were congratulated for raising “millions of dollars for the H ô pital Albert Schweitzer Haiti , which was founded by Mr. Rawson's parents 51 years ago.” The love that Ian and Lucy have for Haiti has been reflected in their tireless work to engage donors locally and internationally to help improve the life and health of over 300,000 rural Haitians in the Artibonite Valley. AFP noted that one vehicle the Rawsons have used for raising funds is the sale of Haitian art, which is managed through the Friends of H ô pital Albert Schweitzer Haiti – an organization founded by Lucy in 1999. Always alert to an opportunity, the Friends had several items of art on display at the reception and ended the evening with more than $400 in sales.
A couple in constant motion, and always working on behalf of others, Ian currently serves as the Chair of the Board of Directors for H ô pital Albert Schweitzer Haiti and Lucy is the President for The Friends of H ô pital Albert Schweitzer Haiti . The Rawsons were also recognized for having received numerous awards for their philanthropic work with the Western Pennsylvania Conservancy, the Pittsburgh Urban League, Beth lehem Haven, and the Three Rivers Arts Festival.
